A bus and a car have crashed in Waimakariri - one of two accidents in the district within 17 minutes.
At 2:40pm on Saturday, the vehicles collided north of the Waimakariri Bridge in Canterbury. Three people sustained minor injuries.
Seventeen minutes later, a second crash was reported to police involving two cars between Wright Rd and Empire Rd. One person was moderately injured in that crash.
Traffic is down to one lane and police are asking motorists to avoid the area if possible.
There is no connection between the accidents, according to police.
