The body found near Lake Rotorua on Friday was 25-year-old Melissa Merika Jones.
Jones' body was found by the lake on the morning of October 18. The death is currently being treated as unexplained.
Police are asking for anyone with information in relation to the incident to come forward.
"We are working to piece together the circumstances leading up towards the death," Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Van Kempen said.
