A 43-year-old man has been arrested and charged following the burglary of two building sites in Canterbury.

The man went to the Rangiora building sites on Wednesday, where he loaded his van with landscaping equipment and took off with a trailer.

Police located the alleged offender's address through a GPS tracking device that was on the stolen property.

The alleged offender is due to appear in the Christchurch District Court on Monday.
