Auckland woman attacked while jogging in Browns Bay hopes it doesn't change her life

One of the four women attacked while jogging in Auckland hopes the traumatic event doesn't change her life.

The woman was running in Browns Bay on November 8, when she was grabbed from behind, thrown to the ground and repeatedly punched.  She suffered a dislocated shoulder and abrasions to her shoulder and knee.

During Thursday's episode of Police Ten 7, the victim, through an actress, describes how she doesn't want the attack to alter how she lives her life.

"I don't know if I'll get to go back to how I was, carefree and not worried, but I don't want it to change my life. It's not fair, because it should never have happened," she said.

"I was in a ball trying to cover my head and he was just punching me. And it was like terror - will he stop?"

The woman said she passed the man who attacked her earlier at the bottom of the walkway but thought nothing of it.

This latest attack comes after three similar assaults on women jogging in the area. Police are searching for a man they believe is connected to these incidents.

The first assault happened on October 10 at 7:45 am on a walkway in Murrays Bay, where the woman was also grabbed from behind and thrown to the ground. She suffered a broken collarbone and concussion.

The second incident was two weeks later on October 24 at 10:45 am in the same area. The woman was jogging when she was attacked and she suffered a broken nose.

A third attack occurred on October 26 at 6:30 pm in Moire Park, Massey when a woman who was walking was assaulted and received facial injuries and bruising.

Detective Senior Sergeant Callum McNeill said police believe the incidents are linked due to the proximity of each attack, the time of day and how each woman was attacked from behind.
