A child is in a serious condition after falling from a balcony in Queenstown.
Police confirmed on Saturday at a child had fallen from a balcony at the South Island centre's Novotel hotel and was in a serious condition.
Authorities arrived at the scene on Marine Parade at 2:10pm and the child was taken to the Lakes District Hospital.
A spokesperson for the hotel said the establishment was saddened by the news.
"We are saddened that a child was injured in a fall at the Novotel Queenstown earlier today. Our thoughts are with the child and their family at this difficult time and with those who witnessed the incident.
"We appreciate all the efforts made by the hotel team and the emergency services who responded. We also extend our sincere thanks to members of the public who were nearby for their assistance."
