Christchurch teenager pleads guilty to manslaughter after fatal police chase

A 17-year-old has pleaded guilty to manslaughter after a police chase turned tragic.

The Christchurch teenager appeared in court on Friday and was granted interim name suppression.

The teenager was fleeing from police in October when the car he was driving slammed into another vehicle, killing the driver and injuring five others.

He pleaded guilty to one count of manslaughter and one count of dangerous driving causing injury, and will be sentenced in December.
