Fifty Auckland bus routes will be out of action for much of Thursday as drivers meet to discuss their collective agreement.

Seven-hundred drivers from NZ Bus will meet from 8am. Auckland Transport (AT) bus manager Darek Koper says AT will be working closely with NZ Bus to try and minimise the impact on commuters.

"We understand that our customers will find this frustrating and apologise for the inconvenience."

The cancellations will be in place between 8:15am and 2:45pm.

"Drivers will return to work as soon as possible after the meeting," Koper said.

NZ Bus operates buses on many of the city's busiest routes, along Dominion, Sandringham, Mt Eden and Manukau Roads, as well other routes across Auckland.

The full list of cancelled routes can be found on Auckland Transport's website

The cancellations come as drivers for Go Bus announced they won't collect fares for a month on routes in the city's south, as a result of an employment dispute between the company and members of First Union.
