Fumes from a generator in an Auckland mall prompted evacuations and an emergency services callout on Friday morning.
Authorities headed to the Westfield Mall in Auckland's Newmarket on Firday after reports of a fire, police told Newshub.
Photos and videos posted to Snapchat showed people evacuating and standing on surrounding streets staring in.
However, it was later found to be a false alarm, with fumes from a diesel generator setting off an alarm in the $790 million complex.
The mall was recently upgraded and set to fully open in the coming month. It homes a range of premium stores, with a David Jones set to open soon. Mecca, Maje, Sandro, Country Road, Witchery are other stores that will eventually open in the five-storey mall.
