An attack on a jogger on Auckland's North Shore on Friday could be linked to two others, police say.

All three assaults took place on a clifftop track between Murrays Bay and Rothesay Bay.

Two other women were assaulted on the track in October.

Friday's assault occurred around 4.30pm when a woman in her 20s was attacked by a man who police described as being around 25 years old, 1.8m tall and of an overweight build.

He was wearing a dark T-shirt, trousers or jeans and a black and grey cap with a sticker on the peak.

After attacking the woman, the assailant was last seen on Beechwood Rd heading towards Browns Bay Rd.

Police believe there may be possible witnesses as all three attacks occurred during the day in what is described as a  popular section of the clifftop track.

Waitematā East area investigations manager Detective Senior Sergeant Callum McNeill says police are "investigating the possibility that these incidents are linked and I want to reassure the community that we are doing everything we can to identify the offender or offenders involved".
