A scammer seemingly posing as former Prime Minister Sir John Key has opened up about the struggles he faces in Ghana.
The exchange, posted to Reddit on Monday, shows a conversation between a woman named Courtney and the scammer, who has a picture of the former Prime Minister as his profile.
"Hello Courtney, how are you doing today?" he asks, starting off strong.
"Is really to meet a beautiful lady like you here (sic). I was actually trying to add friend when I coincidentally saw your photo. I hope I you don't mind, I will like to know you better (sic)" they continued, losing their charm slightly.

"Hmmmm. New account, lives in Miami, non-English language. I'll take Facebook scammer for $500, Alex!" came the reply from Courtney.
The scammer asks her to smile, before informing her he is trying to improve himself.
"By scamming people? I'd be very surprised if you found someone oblivious to fall for it lol," she replied.
"Lol. Is not easy here you know," the scammer replied.
They then continue saying they work by themselves, and are from Nigeria but based in Ghana.
"My dear my country is very hard, no job," they tell Courtney.
"I hope there will be a job for you some day, so you don't have to scam others!" she replies.
"I hope so too."
But still hopeful, he replies again saying he really would like to get to know Courtney. She doesn't respond.
Comments on the post are mostly in admiration of the scammer's dedication.
"I mean, fair play to him. After admitting it he went for another pass, that's dedication," wrote one user.
"He's really trying though! Even though they knew it was a scam.. hats off to John," said another.
