State Highway 1 is now open following a large bushfire near Taupō.
The fire closed the highway north of Waitahanui on Wednesday afternoon.
The blaze is now under control and helicopter operations have stopped.
Firefighters are on scene damping down hot spots
The fire broke out about 15km south of Taupō near the town of Waitahanui.
Firefighters were called to the scene at 1pm on Wednesday.
Ten vehicles attended the fire.
