A third young person has been charged with the aggravated robbery of a 90-year-old Levin woman on Saturday afternoon.

Three young women are due to appear in the Levin Youth Court on Monday.

Police are not searching for anyone else involved in the brutal home invasion.

A family member said the 90-year-old was "smashed, bashed and left for dead".

The elderly woman was allegedly attacked after she opened her Bath Street door to young girls, one of which claimed she needed to use the toilet. The 90-year-old was brutally assaulted before her home was robbed.

"I'm sitting here in absolute shock. Our children's grandmother, my husband's mother, my mother-in-law. Ninety years young," the woman's daughter-in-law posted to Facebook.

"Love you Grace. I'm so sorry this has happened."

The victim remains in a serious condition in hospital.
