A homicide investigation is underway on the West Coast after the discovery of a woman's body.

It's thought to be that of 41-year-old Barbara Ann Quinn, who was reported missing on Friday.

Police had held serious concerns for her safety, and say this is the worst possible outcome.

"We also located a man nearby with moderate injuries," said Det Snr Sgt Kirsten Norton.

"He has been taken to hospital, where he remains under police guard."

They're not looking for anyone else in relation to the woman's death.

"Our thoughts are with Ms Quinn's family at this extremely difficult time," said Norton. "They’ve lost a truly loved and valued member of their family."
