Car crashes through shop in Blenheim

Two people have been assessed by paramedics after a car smashed through a shop front in Blenheim.

Emergency services were called to #OVERFLOW on Market Road shortly after 10am on Wednesday.

A white car is understood to have reversed into a parked car, before accelerating onto the pavement and into the skate shop.

St John Ambulance confirmed they assessed two patients at the scene but neither was injured.

"Just a bit shocked and embarrassed," a spokesperson told Newshub.

Police cordoned off the road for a short amount of time but these cordons have now been lifted. Fire and Emergency were also called to the scene, but were not required to extricate anyone from the shop or the vehicle.

Pictures of the scene show the car deeply embedded inside the shop. Shop owner Anna Pettersson told Fairfax she had to run out of the way of the vehicle.

"A customer had just left which was lucky. I'm happy no one was hurt," she said.

"I'm doing okay too."
