Massive blaze consumes Auckland home, smoke fills streets

A massive blaze has consumed a west Auckland home overnight, with smoke from the fire engulfing neighbouring streets.

At around 12:40am on Tuesday, a residential property on Seymour Rd in Auckland's Sunnyvale began burning, prompting multiple 111 calls, a Fire and Emergency spokesperson confirmed to Newshub. Five crews helped tackle the fire.

Video footage from the scene shows multiple firetrucks and firefighters attempting to battle the large blaze. Smoke can be seen filling the street, making the building difficult to see other than an orange glow. Members of the public walk around nearby while the sound of glass shattering can be heard.

A man who took video of the blaze said on Facebook that it was the fourth fire in the area in three years and called it "unsettling".

The FENZ spokesperson the building was "well alight", and while there had been reports about people inside the property, everyone was accounted for when crews arrived.

A fire investigator has visited the scene, but a cause of the blaze has yet to be determined.
