New Year's Eve weather: How every part of the country is looking

The weather looks to be mostly dry for Kiwis celebrating New Year's Eve on Tuesday.

According to WeatherWatch, high pressure will cover the country bringing nice dry weather, but it may start to slip away from the lower South Island, allowing a westerly wind to pick up.

Temperatures will be mild in most parts of Aotearoa, said WeatherWatch.

Some patchy rain and showers may also arrive in Southland later in the day, but this isn't yet locked in.

At this stage, 95 percent of the country looks dry with only Timaru and Fiordland looking likely to get rain.
