A person is in a critical condition after an accident at an Auckland art farm.

Emergency services say they were called to the "serious" workplace accident at the Gibbs Farm Sculpture Park in Kaipara at 9:20am on Tuesday.

Fire and Emergency NZ said crews helped ambulance staff provide treatment to the person. The Auckland Westpac helicopter transferred them to hospital.

An emergency pilot who attended the incident said it involved a "serious accident" with a road grader.

"I haven't seen this nature of injury before. It was a traumatic injury," he told Newshub.

Gibbs Farm is a world-famous sculpture park set up by New Zealand businessman Alan Gibbs.

It contains his private collection of outdoor sculptures, including the world's largest Tesla coil.
