Police say an investigation is underway after a man was allegedly assaulted through his car window while driving in Titirangi, Auckland.

"All he was doing was going to buy his sick younger daughter some medication to keep her alive," the man's other daughter wrote in a local Facebook group.

On Thursday afternoon, the man was "assaulted by several youths". Police say the youths were reportedly window washing in the area.

After he politely declined to have his window washed, the victim's daughter says they physically abused him through his car window.

"The disgust of these boys kills me and it sickens my soul that they get away with this sh*t," she posted on Facebook.

"They need to be accounted for."

A photo posted to Facebook also showed the victim with a black eye.

According to police, an investigation is taking place.

"Police can confirm that we attended an incident of this nature yesterday afternoon [Thursday] at around 5pm," said acting Senior Sergeant Carl Fowlie of Waitemata West.

"We are continuing to make inquiries into this incident."
