Police have launched a homicide investigation after a critically injured man died at Waihi Beach.
They were called to "reports of disorder" on Seaforth Rd, Bowentown, just before 1am.
Emergency medical treatment was administered to the critically injured man, who died at the scene.
A scene guard remains in place.
