A Nelson house has been gutted after a blaze tore through it in the early hours of Friday morning.
One firefighter was injured in the fire which occurred at a property on Tahunanui Drive in Nelson.
A Fire and Emergency spokesperson told Newshub the man suffered minor burns and was treated by ambulance staff at the scene.
At its peak, 12 crews battled to extinguish the flames. The fire has since been put out, but pictures supplied to Newshub show the property gutted by flames.
FENZ believes the house was abandoned.
Tahunanui Drive was closed for a short time this morning but has since reopened.
The cause of the fire will be investigated.
