A jetboat has crashed in the Kawerau River near Queenstown, leaving people with minor injuries.

Reports say it appeared the boat became beached just after 11am near State Highway 6. One person was hospitalised.

One person died in Fiordland National Park in March 2019 after their boat crashed on the Hollyford River.

Another crash in February on the Shotover River injured nine of the 10 passengers onboard.
