The death of a 56-year-old on New Year's Day in Waihi Beach was likely the result of a medial event, police say.
On New Year's Day, police said they were investigating the death of Derrick Hann on Seaforth Rd just before 1am. Emergency medical treatment was administered to the critically injured man, who died at the scene where there were "reports of disorder".
However, on Tuesday, police said that while investigations continue, "enquiries to date indicate Mr Hann died of a medical event".
"Those involved in the disorder incident have been spoken to, and Police are not looking for anyone else in relation to this matter."
The Coroner has been notified.
