A person is dead after a boating incident in Auckland.
Police were notified of the incident at about 9:05pm on Wednesday after a boat overturned at Manukau Heads.
Three people were in the water for a number of hours after the boat capsized, a police spokesperson says. All three were wearing lifejackets.
"Eventually they made it to shore, but sadly the third man was located deceased on the beach."
The two others were taken to Middlemore Hospital with minor injuries.
Police are working to understand the circumstances around the incident.
The death will be referred to the Coroner.
