Police car left mangled after flipping on Southern Motorway

A police car has crashed on Auckland's Southern Motorway, landing on its roof.

A spokesperson said the vehicle was on its way to a priority job, with lights flashing, just before 7:30am on Monday when it flipped.

The incident happened on State Highway 1 near Otara, close to the Reagan Rd overbridge.

No other cars were involved.

The driver has been taken to Middlemore Hospital with minor to moderate injuries.

One lane is currently blocked, and delays are expected.

The serious crash unit will investigate.
