Seven people are being taken to hospital after a serious accident in the Waikato on Wednesday.
Emergency services have been called to the incident in Patetonga.
"Police are at the scene of a serious crash at the intersection State Highway 27 and Maukoro Landing Road," a police spokesperson says.
"Emergency services were alerted to the two-vehicle crash at 12:05pm."
Five of the injured are in a serious condition. Two others are moderate.
St John says a helicopter has been dispatched. The injured are being flown to Waikato Hospital.
"SH27 is closed between Maungataraata and Tahuna and diversions are in place," a police spokesperson says.
"Motorists are advised to avoid the area."
