Tourist charged after Queenstown crash that killed elderly woman

One person has been charged following a fatal crash in Queenstown that killed an elderly woman.

The crash happened on Frankton Rd (State Highway 6) on Tuesday afternoon.

According to The Otago Daily Times, the victim was an elderly woman.

Police said, in a statement to Newshub, that one person is facing a charge of careless driving causing death and two charges of careless driving causing injury.

The ODT reports the 29-year-old man charged was a tourist.

"One person is due to appear in the Queenstown District Court on Monday," a police spokesperson told Newshub.

Police attended a multi-car crash along the same road on Saturday, leaving one person in a critical condition while another sustained minor injuries.
