Waihi Beach residents have no need for concern following two deaths on the same road, say two local Mayors.

The deaths, which were one week apart, both occurred on Seaforth Rd in the beachside community.

On Saturday night, a death occured on Seaforth Rd, not far from where a 56-year-old man was killed on New Year's Day.

Western Bay of Plenty Mayor, Garry Webber described his first reaction to the news.

"Your first thought is for the family and the victim, hopefully, they're getting good support at a time like this."

Webber told Newshub the unexpected deaths has shocked the small town.

"It's not the sort of thing you expect in our small community," he said.

He advises residents to trust the police.

Hauraki District Mayor Toby Adams also said those who own baches in the area have no reason for concern as the incidents were "just a coincidence".

"The news is a bit disheartening, but when you read through the reasons behind it, they're not related, it's just incidence gone wrong," said Adams, who owns a holiday home on the same road.

A man has been charged with murder following the death of the 22-year-old on Saturday.
