Auckland man creates DIY speed camera to catch hoons on his street

An Auckland man has created what's believed to be New Zealand's first DIY speed camera. 

Peter Lowden is worried about people speeding in his neighbourhood, regularly clocking people going past his home at more than 100km/h.

The tech-mad IT specialist wondered if he could turn a Raspberry Pi mini-computer into a speed camera.

The answer turned out to be yes.
