A motorcyclist is in a serious condition after colliding with a car in Counties Manukau on Saturday morning.
The incident took place at the intersection of Redoubt Rd and Bartells Dr in Goodwood Heights at 11:48am, police said.
"A section of Redoubt Rd will be closed for the next couple of hours while police examine the scene," they said in a statement shortly afterwards.
"Motorists travelling east on Redoubt Rd are asked to divert down Goodwood Dr. Those travelling west are asked to divert on to Hilltop Road."
Fifty-three motorcyclists lost their lives on the road last year, Ministry of Transport data shows.
