A large fire at a car wrecker near Rotorua is sending black smoke billowing into the sky.
The car wrecker on Wikaraka Street Ngongotaha is ablaze and firefighters are at the scene.
A Fire and Emergency spokesperson told Newshub they were called to the fire at 7:10pm on Tuesday.
Four fire trucks and a tanker were in place and six more vehicles were on their way to tackle the flames.
There have been no reports of injuries so far.
Photos on social media show thick black smoke visible from the fire.
One witness told Rotorua Daily Post she could hear the tyres exploding as the building went up in flames, and a group of onlookers were asked to move away due to the risk of overhead powerlines.
