Murder charge laid after Edgecumbe death

A man has been charged with murder following the death of a man in the Bay of Plenty last year.

Thunder Savage, 45, was found with critical injuries at a property on Hydro Rd in Edgecumbe in October. At the time, NZME reported his injuries were the result of a stabbing.

A 54-year-old man appeared in Whakatane District Court on Wednesday charged with his murder.

The man is due to reappear in the Tauranga High Court in March.

"Police are not seeking anyone else in relation to Mr Savage's death however we continue to investigate and welcome any information from members of the public," a spokesperson said.
