A person has died in a crash on the Winton Lorneville highway in Southland.
Emergency services were called to the scene where a van had rolled at Gap Rd West just before 5am on Sunday.
A police statement said others in the vehicle have a range of injuries, with some serious.
Diversions are in place and people are asked to avoid the area.
"The Serious Crash Unit has been notified," police said.
