A child has reportedly drowned after being swept out to sea in Napier.
Emergency services were called to Marine Pde at 3:40pm where a person was reported to be in difficulty.
Police confirmed in a statement one person died at the scene.
It is understood the child was at the water's edge before being swept out, NZME reported.
