The vehicle, a blue Ford Territory Ghia with the license plate CDE931, is believed to be in the Auckland area although police say it could be anywhere.

In a statement on Sunday, police said anyone who may have seen the Ford Territory should get in touch.

"If you can help with this, or any other information that may assist police, please call 105 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 and quote file number 200211/5109."

On Saturday morning, police announced a 25-year-old man had been charged with the murder of the two men at the Omanawa property. He was arrested on Friday after being cornered by the armed offenders squad in Christchurch.

The arrest also followed a dramatic police chase and shootout on Thursday which ended with the death of the driver.

There has been speculation that the double homicide was gang-related. District Commander Superintendent Andy McGregor said on Saturday that the incidents this week "appear to be unrelated to gang conflict, although police are aware the incidents have involved gang members".
