A second body recovered from the Makarora River is believed to be the tramping partner of another body found in the same spot.
The latest body was found by a member of the public in Mt Aspiring National Park on Saturday.
A police statement said neither death is being treated as suspicious.
Work is ongoing to establish the circumstances behind their deaths and to formally identify the pair.
