Two fires broke out in Auckland just blocks apart on Wednesday afternoon.
Four fire trucks and a hazardous materials unit are at the scene of a house fire in Sandringham. The fire is causing delays on Sandringham Rd.
Witnesses told Newshub the fire appeared to start at the rear of the house and took some time to get under control.
A Fire and Emergency (FENZ) spokesperson confirmed this fire is now out and crews are dampening hotspots.
A second fire broke out in Grey Lynn within minutes of the house fire.
Piles of trees and tyres were on fire between two buildings being used as workshops on Great North Rd near Coleridge St.
FENZ said six fire crews were called there at 4:30pm and the fire is now under control.
