A man who was found dead at an Auckland brothel has been identified by police.

Auckland resident Zion Gutnik, 30, was discovered outside the Epsom-based "gentleman's club" Club 574 just after midnight on Tuesday. A homicide investigation, Operation Anniston, was launched the following morning.

A sex worker told Newshub there were security cameras both inside and outside the Manukau Road property, which may shed a light on what happened to Gutnik.

"It could be anyone because there are men that walk in and out of there all the time, especially at night," she said.

Acting Detective Inspector Glenn Baldwin confirmed that Gutnik's family have been notified and are being supported by Police and Victim Support.

The Operation Anniston team are continuing to piece together the circumstances surrounding the 30-year-old's death. A forensic examination of a Toyota Yaris seized in the investigation is also ongoing.

In a statement, Baldwin acknowledged the members of the public who have called with important information regarding the investigation.

A scene examination is continuing at the property.

Anyone who was at the premises on Monday night are asked to contact the investigation team on (09) 524 1921.

Police are also appealing for sightings of a blue 2017 Toyota Yaris on Monday night or Tuesday morning.

Information can be submitted anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
