Police say a suspicious package found at the NZ Post International Mail Centre in Mangere, near Auckland airport, is not a threat and cordons in the area have been lifted.

The bomb squad was called earlier on Monday morning after the package was found just before 9am.

The building was evacuated and cordons were put in place on George Bolt Memorial Dr and Laurence Stevens Dr.

A police spokesperson said the matter has now been resolved.
