Both New Zealand coronavirus tests negative

The Ministry of Health has confirmed neither of the two people suspected of having coronavirus have contracted the disease.

On Monday Director-General of Health Dr Ashley Bloomfield announced two people were being tested for the virus.

The negative result of one test was revealed on Monday afternoon by Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern. Hours later the second test result also returned negative.

Over a hundred people have been tested for the virus, and 31 people are currently undergoing testing.

New Zealand has one confirmed case of COVID-19. The man in his 60s contracted the virus after travelling from Iran via Bali.

He is stable and improving in hospital isolation, said Dr Bloomfield.
