Police lay murder charge following death in Auckland's Randwick Park

Police have laid a murder charge after a man was found dead in Randwick Park, south Auckland on Saturday.

A 46-year-old man was initially charged with injuring with intent to injure, but this has now been upgraded to murder, Counties Manukau Detective Senior Sergeant Richard O'Connor said in a statement.

Police haven't ruled out further arrests.

The man will appear in the Manukau District Court on March 6.

Police launched a homicide investigation after they were called to the Trindon St address at 12:07am.

They want to thank the community for the assistance they gave during the investigation.

"We have received an outstanding amount of information from members of the public and through this were able to progress our enquiry significantly."

Police can't make any further comments since the matter is now before the courts.
