Police are searching for an Auckland porch thief who's been roaming the Stonefields area, making off with several parcels full of winter clothing.

A video posted to Twitter earlier on Wednesday shows a local resident confronting the woman, who's just made off with a parcel from a house across the road.

The woman claims the package "is mine" and the person filming can "go ask her", before escaping on a bicycle.

The footage was uploaded to social media with a plea for someone to identify the culprit.

"This morning we had a couple of parcels stolen from our front door. If anyone in the GI/Mt Wellington/Stonefields area recognizes this asshole can you please let me know," the post reads.

"I'm pissed mainly cuz the parcels she stole were full of winter clothes for my mum."

Auckland police told Newshub they've received a report about a burglary on Tauoma Cres, Stonefields and are making follow-up enquiries.

And it appears the woman may have been scoping out the area for targets earlier in the day.

"Earlier this morning, before 9am, police also attended a report of a woman acting suspiciously in the Stonefields area. Area enquiries were conducted but the woman was not located," a police spokesperson said.

"We encourage anyone to report suspicious activity immediately to police. Police take matters relating to theft or burglary seriously and those involved will be held accountable."

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Mt Wellington Police on 105.
