Coronavirus: New Zealand reports zero new cases, zero new deaths

The Ministry of Health on Saturday reported zero new cases of COVID-19 in New Zealand, and no new deaths.

The figures were released in a statement and on the ministry's website, as has become the custom at weekends, instead of a media conference.

The total number of confirmed cases remains at 1148, and overall number - including probable cases - 1498. The death toll remains at 21.

Seven more people have now recovered from the disease, which has left more than 300,000 dead worldwide. Ninety-five percent of all known cases in New Zealand have now recovered.

There are three patients left in hospitals, none in ICU. They are in Auckland, Middlemore and Waikato.

So far there have been 223,937 tests done, up 7150 on Friday.

"During this first weekend of alert level 2, it is vital that all New Zealanders maintain the good habits we have learned and implemented in our daily lives over the past weeks," the ministry said.

There has only been one new case reported in the last four days.
