A fourth person has been charged in relation to the alleged murder of Bao Chang Wang, also known as Ricky Wang, a New Zealand permanent resident who was last seen in 2017.

A 37-year-old man has been charged with accessory after the fact to murder and will appear in the Waitakere District Court on Wednesday, Detective Inspector John Sutton from the Waitemata Police Department confirmed.

It's the latest development in homicide investigation Operation Quattro. Two men aged 28 and 33 were charged with Wang's murder on Tuesday, following the arrest of a 29-year-old man last week. He has also been charged with accessory to murder.

In March, remains buried in a shallow grave were discovered in the central North Island. While formal identification of the deceased is ongoing, police believe the remains are of Wang, a missing Chinese national.

In August 2017, police allege the 29-year-old drove at least one other person to the burial site on Rangipo Intake Rd, located off Desert Rd near Tongariro.

"Our enquiries into Ricky Wang's murder are ongoing and we expect that further arrests will be made over the course of the investigation," Sutton said in a statement on Tuesday.

As the matter is before the courts, police are unable to make further comment.
