A homicide investigation has been launched after a woman was found dead at a property in Henderson, west Auckland, in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Emergency services were called to an address on Great North Road at around 1:30am.
Detective Inspector Aaron Proctor from the Waitemata Police Department confirmed a scene examination is currently underway.
"Police are working hard to establish the circumstances of what has occurred at the address. We are speaking with a number of people in relation to this matter," he said in a statement.
A post-mortem and formal identification procedures are expected to be conducted on Friday.
"Until this has been completed and next-of-kin has been advised, we will not be in a position to release the name of the victim," Proctor said.
Police are aiming to provide a further update later on Thursday.
