A 52-year-old man has been charged with the murder of a woman in Te Anau.
Police were called around 6:35pm on Friday to an address on Cleddau St and soon found the woman's body.
The man has appeared in Invercargill District Court and remanded in custody to reappear in June.
"The victim and alleged offender were known to one another and there is no ongoing risk to the public," said Det Snr Sgt Stu Harvey.
A scene examination is underway.
