Patrick Gower reveals he's 'battling' being unable to get a haircut during lockdown

Patrick Gower has revealed he's "been battling" during lockdown because he's been unable to get a haircut due to the alert level restrictions.

While speaking on The Project, co-host Jesse Mulligan asked Gower how he was coping with longer hair and being unable to access a hairdresser.

"A lot of New Zealanders have been measuring this lockdown in the length of their own hair, and we wanted to know how you were getting on with no TV3 hairdressing services available in your particular bubble," Mulligan says.

Gower says it's been a struggle for him.

"I have been battling and there has been a lot of interest from Kiwis in my hair.

"Last night I had a bit of a nightmare on Newshub - I actually used too much hairspray and a comb that I bought at the supermarket. People said I looked like Legoman, a lot of people asked if I'd dyed my hair - I haven't dyed my hair, it was just very wet with hairspray.

"Tonight I've just gone for nothing. But I'm battling, I'm battling. Sorry New Zealand, I'm battling."

Under alert levels 3 and 4, hairdressers and other close-contact businesses have been unable to operate. But once New Zealand moves to level 2 - the decision of which will be made on Monday - salons can restart their services for customers again.
