Allegations that an Auckland teenager was abducted and sexually assaulted are false, according to police.

Police said after an investigation they are "satisfied that no abduction has occurred".

"Police have made further enquiries today following a report of an abduction and assault incident in Western Springs involving a student on Wednesday."

"At this current time, Police do not hold concerns for the safety of the general public as a result of this report.

"Police are continuing to make enquiries about this report to ascertain exactly what has taken place and we are not in a position to provide any further details at this time," police said in a statement.

They said the complainant is being "provided with support".

On Friday morning, police said they were investigating allegations of a teenage girl being abducted while walking on Meola Road on Wednesday.

"Police are working with the victim and her family to understand the circumstances."

"As the investigation is in its early stages, Police are not in a position to give any further details," a spokesperson told Newshub earlier.

The false report followed a warning to parents from Pt Chevalier School earlier in the week about a man in a van approaching students.

"Pt Chevalier School has been informed by another local school about an incident [on Monday] where a student was approached by a caucasian male in a black van on Pt Chevalier Road," principal Stephen Lethbridge wrote.

"As always please encourage your children to be safe when walking home and where possible walk with another student or stay in a group," Lethbridge said.
