Coronavirus: Two weeks without a new case of COVID-19 in New Zealand

New Zealand has gone a fortnight without a new case of coronavirus, the Ministry of Health has announced.

In lieu of the usual press conference, a statement confirming the 14th successive day without a new COVID-19 infection was sent out to media on Friday afternoon.

There is still just one active case of coronavirus in New Zealand.

The lack of new cases means the total number of Kiwis infected by COVID-19 remains at 1504 - 1154 of which are confirmed, and 350 probable.

There are no new deaths to report, and no one is receiving hospital-level care, the ministry says.

On Thusday, New Zealand laboratories completed 2813 tests, bringing the total number of tests completed to date to 288,987.

The Ministry of Health reports seven of our significant clusters have now closed, following the closure of the World Hereford Conference cluster on Friday. Eight clusters remain open across the country.

A cluster is considered to be closed when there have been no new cases for two incubation periods - 28 days - from the date when all cases have completed isolation.

The NZ COVID Tracer app has now recorded 501,000 registrations, an increase of 6000 since this time on Thursday.

"Reaching half-a-million registrations is a significant milestone," a Ministry of Health spokesperson said.

"We continue to encourage as many people as possible to download the app. This will support our contact tracing efforts including when we move to alert level 1.

"Similarly, businesses are encouraged to also create a unique QR code - we've simplified the process for this in response to feedback."

The number of posters created by businesses now stands at 32,073, with the total number of poster scans at 583,674.
