Wellington power outage: More than 1300 people wake to no power

More than 1300 Wellington residents have woken up with no power on Monday. 

As of 7am, 1342 people in the Wellington area were impacted by the power outage. 

Wellington Electricity says the cause of the outage has yet to be determined, but it is working to restore power to the 1342 affected households by roughly 10:15am.

The outage has struck residents across Aro Valley, Highbury, Karori, Kelburn, Northland, Te Aro and Thorndon.

Update

As of 8:10am, power has been restored to 978 homes. The outage is now localised to three Highbury neighbourhoods - Highbury Crescent, Highbury Road and Mt Pleasant Road - with 364 properties still affected. 

Wellington Electricity told Newshub the cause of the outage still hasn't been identified. The remaining properties without power can still expect it to be restored by 10:15am.
