One person has died following a crash on State Highway 75 near Akaraoa in Banks Peninsula overnight.
The single car crash happened just after midnight, between Robinsons Bay and Takamatua Bay.
The driver was the only person in the car.
Road closures have been in place on the Christchurch Akaroa Road overnight, but it's expected to reopen shortly.
Meanwhile another person has died after a serious crash near Whakatane on Saturday evening.
Police were called to the two-vehicle crash on White Pine Bush Road, part of State Highway 2, at 6:20pm.
The Serious Crash Unit was investigating the incident.
